The '+' Part of 'Vanilla +'

The Everwaves Server is once again lively with the newest reset, now running on version 1.21.5!
With this new version, many things about the game have changed. Some things have changed with Everwaves itself as well — but more has stayed the same. Namely, the aspects of the server that make it "Vanilla +" rather than simply "Vanilla". I think it's time we go over those in more detail!
Commands
Home / Teleportation
Commands included in this section:/sethome
(Sets your home to your current location)./home
(Teleports you home).
Our /sethome
and /home
commands are the only form of teleportation we have on Everwaves. Only one home can be set — to be more clear, you cannot have multiple homes.
This is a balancing decision that we feel allows for quality of life, while keeping in the spirit of the game. It gives you a way to return home should you get lost, or your bed is broken; and it encourages long exploration trips. However, it does not allow for transportation itself. Players still have to explore as they'd like, they simply have an easy way to return home when they're done.
We'll go over why we don't include more expansive teleportation later in the article.
Nametag Color Customization!
Commands included in this section:/color
(Allows you to change the color of your name in game)
This command is one of my personal favorites. To allow for personalization (and better chat legibility), you can choose what color your name is by using the /color
command. This command gives you a handful of options by default:
Yellow (#FFFF55)
Gold (#FFAA00)
Aqua (#55FFFF)
Lime Green (#55FF55)
Dark Red (#AA0000)
Dark Purple (#AA00AA)
Light Red (#FF5555)
Dark Blue (#0000AA)
Cyan (#00AAAA)
Blue (#5555FF)
Don't feel constrained though! The /color
command also accepts hex values. (e.g. /color #b4befe
)
Disabling Phantom Spawns
Commands included in this section:/phantoms toggle
(Toggles phantom spawns for your player on and off.
This command is very straight-forward: It allows you to disable phantoms for your player. Many players consider phantoms to be an annoying nuisance. I agree!
But some players like having them — or perhaps need them for phantom membrane — so having a toggle allows for players to choose whether phantoms will spawn on them. Have fun enduring your willing sleepless nights!
Armor Stand Customization!
Commands included in this section:/aa
(Opens the Advanced Armor Stands Menu)
Armor stands in vanilla Minecraft are rather straight forward. But, with some creativity and a nifty plugin, they can be used for incredible decoration.

With the Advanced Armor Stands plugin, you can do a nearly endless amount of things with them! From decorating more traditional player-like-mannequins (as seen above), to even putting items on shelves.

This utility is vast, but don't worry; there's provided documentation. Just run the /aa
command, and see what you can do!
Other Features
Livemap
The Everwaves server also has a live map that you can view in your browser — this allows you not only to view the areas of the map that players have explored, but also see the location of players.

Notable Quality of Life Features:
- One Person Sleep
This lets night pass when only one player on the server sleeps — No one wants an endless night because of an AFK player! - No Fire Spread
Fire spread is turned off, meaning you don't have to worry about your wooden builds being struck by lightning! - AFK
If you go AFK, you can indicate such to other players by using the/afk
command! - No Enderman Griefing
Enderman griefing is turned off! Don't worry about those tall buggers stealing your building materials.
Also, don't forget to read the server's rules and be kind to one another! This is a shared space, and a wonderful community. Let's keep it that way! 💜
